BP Bunge Bioenergia’s Monteverde Unit receives the 2020 Excellence Award from Programa Cana IAC

São Paulo, November 2020 – BP Bunge Bioenergia’s Monteverde unit, located in the municipality of Ponta Porã (in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul), received on Tuesday, November 24, the 2020 Excellence Award, granted by Programa Cana – IAC (Instituto Agronômico) for its outstanding work in developing improvement programs for sugarcane varieties in that state of Brazil.

According to Professor Marcos Landell, coordinator of Programa Cana – IAC, the award was created in 2016 to acknowledge companies that stand out the most in the sugarcane varietal improvement according to a few indicators, such as the varietal update index and the varietal concentration index.

He explains that the correct choice of a sugarcane variety can significantly change the productivity of an area, much more than any other element added to the production process.

Based on the ranking of the award with the grades obtained by the plants in the classification of the criteria evaluated by Programa Cana – IAC, the Monteverde unit ranked first on the list of plants in Mato Grosso do Sul in 2020 and was awarded the prize this year.

“This recognition crowns the work of an entire technical team dedicated to obtaining the best results in terms of quality and productivity,” says Rogério Bremm, Agricultural Director, BP Bunge Bioenergia.

The 2020 Excellence Award was handed out last Tuesday night, during the 3rd Online Meeting of Grupo Fitotécnico of Cana IAC.
