BP Bunge Bioenergia informs Mario Lindenhayn’s decision to retire in January 2024, to dedicate himself to personal projects.

Nigel Dunn will assume, in October 31st , the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors of BP Bunge Bioenergia, and  Geovane Consul, the company CEO, will report directly to the Board of Directors.

“We will inherit an important legacy from Mario. His strategic vision, vast experience, and leadership have strongly contributed to BP Bunge’s creation and development”, says Geovane Consul, CEO. “We respect his decision and will support Nigel Dunn’s integration, whose performance and experience in biofuels are equally relevant and strategic”.

“I wish Nigel success in his new endeavor and thank Mario deeply for his pivot role since the joint venture’s creation and integration, contributing strategically to the business growth and solidity in Brazil”, affirms Julio Garros, global co-president of Bunge’s agribusinesses and member of the management board of BP Bunge.

With almost 40 years of experience, built upon executive positions in Brazil and abroad, of which 15 years were dedicated to the bioenergy sector, Mario was one of BP Bunge’s formation sponsors, a joint venture conceived in 2019 from bp and Bunge’s bioenergy businesses. “I could not help but mention the privilege of being a part of such accomplishment alongside Geovane Consul and a team of highly qualified professionals, who remain dedicated to BP Bunge’s consolidation as a reference in the industry, counting on Nigel Dunn’s support and vast experience. After the transition process conclusion, I’ll move on to a new chapter of my journey, with enthusiasm and pride of what we achieved together”, states Mario Lindenhayn.

Nigel Dunn, a graduated chemical engineer, has been a part of bp for the last 35 years, acting in Europe, the USA, Asia, and Australia in different executive positions and, since 2022, is a senior vice-president of biofuels at bp. “Biofuels will perform an important role as one of the solutions to decarbonize the energy systems and infrastructure worldwide. BP Bunge has been delivering an excellent performance and I’m excited about the paths we may take. I can’t wait to work with the other members of the board and BP Bunge’s team to build that future”, concludes Nigel Dunn.
